Word on the street is that Gen Z is a nightmare to work with. The “Five Deadly Sins” usually include: showing up late, ghosting overtime, catching an attitude when criticized, demanding WFH/flexi-hours, and ignoring the rulebook.

I’ll be honest—I was low-key terrified to lead a whole squad of them. As someone with a bit of a temper, I was worried we’d end up as a true-crime headline. But after a year in the trenches, here’s the real tea:

🔥 Always Late? – I set the “be on time” boundary on Day 1. Sure, they slip up once in a while, but a quick nudge gets them back on track instantly.
🔥 Won’t Hustle? – When deadlines hit, they’ve stayed up until 3 AM with me without a peep. I just make sure to give that time back to them fairly.
🔥 The “Black Face” Attitude? – Honestly, when the boss says something totally out of touch, I’m the one ready to flip a table. They’re usually the ones calming me down!
🔥 WFH Obsessed? – Our job is task-based. As long as the work is fire and on time, I don’t care if they do it from their bed or the bathroom.
🔥 Rule Breakers? – They skip steps because they want to go faster. Once I explain why the process exists, they actually stick to it.

We’ve had our fair share of blowups and makeup sessions, but I’ve realized I’m lucky to have such a solid crew. At the end of the day, those “sins” aren’t exclusive to Gen Z. I remember being the “annoying” junior once, wishing the seniors would just talk to me. Now that I’m the senior, I’m choosing to take that first step.
