I’ve been doing general admin at an IT company for a few years now after a career change. Friends always ask me: “What HR system does your company use? What CRM? What visitor management system? Do you guys use RPA?” They assume an IT firm must have top-tier internal digitalization that’s worth learning from. The reality is:
HR System >> “Something that simple? We’ll just code it ourselves! Use Excel for now.” (10 years later, it’s still not finished).
CRM >> “Why pay someone else? Let’s save the money! Excel works fine.”
Visitor System >> “We don’t even have that many clients coming over, it’s useless.”
RPA >> “What’s that?”
Friend: Isn’t your company an IT company? 😅
Me: Yeah, an Invisible Technology Company.
